In the beginning of A Modest Proposal, Swift uses pathos when he writes, "their helpless infants who, as they grow up, either turn into thieves for want of work, or leave their dear native country, to fight for the Pretender of Spain, or sell themselves to the Barbadoes"(Paragraph 1). This is aimed at trying to make the audience feel bad for the children. He makes children seem like they are good for nothing and will just end up living a life of crime or will be cowards and leave their country. Swift use ethos by quoting his friend from London by saying, "a young healthy child well nursed, is, at a year old, a most delicious nourishing and wholesome food"(9). In paragraph four, it says that Swift has been thinking about this idea for years. Swift uses logos when he says that if people start eating infants, there will be less people to feed and more food. He gives several statistics on the amount of children that should be sold as food. For example, he claims, "There only remain an hundred and twenty thousand children of poor parents annually born"(6). These statistics help back up his plan and give it credibility by showing he has thought about this long and hard.
My favorite Bansky piece would have to be the one he did in Palestine on the the Segregation Wall. It is of a little girl holding balloons and being lifted over the wall. This shows to me that this child wants to be free and leave the life shes living and start a new one on the other side.
